The Various Types Of Pregnancy Tests
A woman is asked on how she could figure out that she is pregnant. Some early signs of pregnancy are there for sure, but you need to have an idea about the various types of pregnancy tests which can be performed at the doctor’s chamber or in the comfort of your room. Basically, there are three types of pregnancy tests and let us understand them in details.
Home pregnancy tests.
They are available in standard or digital sticks. In the case of the latter it can be used 6 days in relation to your missed period, whereas the standard stick test is used in case of 4 days. Please be aware of the fact that if you do the test too early the chances of a failed pregnancy test are bound to be there. A false result points to the fact that even though you are pregnant the results may show negative.
The test should be done in the morning as the hormonal or urine levels are more concentrated at that point of time. This is not a requirement that the test will be accurate and you can go on to collect the sample of your urine in a clean or dry container. If the test is negative, you can carry on the same test, in a few days time if your period has still not started. If there is a faint line the chances are that you are pregnant.
All the pregnancy tests work on the basis of human chorionic gonadrotropin referred to HCG. In the various types of pregnancy tests at home, the digital ones are known to yield more accurate results as it is flashed in front of your screen. You just need to take note of the fact that this form of test is a bit expensive and you may need a few of them
Clinical urine test
This form of test can be performed at the chamber of the doctor. It is not available at the commercial premises of a doctor’s chamber and is based on the same principle of HCG hormone. The major point of difference is that with the help of a professional you will be able to eradicate any scope of error which is bound to arise. Another point to consider is that this test will cost you more than a home pregnancy test
Blood or serum test
Conducted at the chamber of a doctor, the blood levels of a woman are taken as these tests can go on to detect HCG much earlier than a urine test. These tests take a bit longer and are more expensive than the urine tests. One of the major tests in this regard is the qualitative HCG blood test, where it is ascertained whether there is any level of HCG in your body or not. A simple answer is provided whether you are pregnant or not in the first place. Doctors go on to undertake this test after 10 days of your missed period and some of the tests can detect HCG earlier.
